Meet Jess Wells – Our Talent Acquisition Manager

Jess plays a pivotal role as the head of internal recruitment. Being responsible for sourcing and recruiting top talent across various skill sets including recruitment, delivery, payroll, accounts, compliance, admin, and more. With a combination of empathy and expertise. Jess excels in engaging with candidates and clients understanding their needs, and creating a positive experience throughout the hiring process.

Our Employee Engagement Coordinator Emilie, sat down with Jess to understand more about her role. As well as her life at Advance TRS, and what the ideal candidate looks like for recruiters.

So, Jess what do your day-day operations involve?

“Each day brings different responsibilities. Primarily I focus on promoting the company image and brand by devising innovative strategies. Additionally, I am actively involved in candidate interviews, offering valuable insights to assist senior managers in making informed decisions. I also participate in internal problem-solving initiatives. I also have meetings with senior management and directors, discussing and aligning our organizational needs and objectives.”

What are the key qualifications and skills you look for when hiring for different positions within the company?

“The key factor is personality and its alignment with business ethos, which naturally varies across different sectors. We have personal qualities that form the basis of the Advance TRS DNA that we look for in every new recruit. Therefore I am always looking for someone who is driven, hardworking, self-motivated, focused, and optimistic.

How do you ensure a smooth onboarding process for new hires?

“I play a crucial role in facilitating a seamless onboarding process for new team members, working closely with line managers and teams. To achieve this, I collaborate with line managers to design and conduct a comprehensive induction course. Additionally, I conduct regular check in at the 2,6- and 12-week marks to ensure their progress and overall satisfaction. I take pride in being a reliable point of contact for team members throughout their probationary period. Offering support and assistance independently of their line managers.”

What would you like to learn/improve at?

“Recruitment changes all the time. It will always be a learning curve, with new and different employment laws, trends, and markets so, therefore, I will always be learning and improving within recruitment”.
