About Our Client
Our client is a specialist water, flood risk and environmental engineering consultancy who have secured top tier framework agreements with Environmental public bodies across the UK.
The Opportunity
Our client is looking for a Senior OR Principal Civil Engineer to lead a small team of engineers in their Newport office in the delivery of river and coastal flood defence; and flood risk management projects.
The post will involve leading and managing flood risk management engineering projects, involving coastal, fluvial or drainage engineering design. As well as leading exciting design projects you will have the opportunity to develop and build a strong engineering team, focus on business development to bring in new and exciting engineering opportunities, mentor more junior engineers to develop their skills and work with dedicated and experienced engineers from across the business.
The successful candidate will be part of the Newport team delivering flood, erosion, and water engineering projects across the UK, from housing schemes to major flood risk management schemes.
Competencies Required
It is essential that you have experience working in engineering consultancy and in undertaking design and analysis for flood risk management schemes for a variety of coastal, fluvial and/or drainage structures to time and budget.
You will be expected to successfully deliver and lead projects whilst guiding other engineers and technicians. You must be familiar with the CDM Regulations and their application within a design environment. The role will include the mentoring of more junior engineers. Good communication skills are essential for working with clients and internal team members.
Commercial experience is desired as the successful applicant may be required to lead on and contribute to commercial bids and tenders.
Applicants should be chartered or close to becoming chartered with the Institution of Civil Engineers (or similar) and have a proven track record in design project delivery.
Applicants should have an engineering degree, ideally to postgraduate level (or equivalent).
