Due to the significant growth in their Haywards Heath engineering team, our client currently has a vacancy for a Senior / Principal Geotechnical Engineer who wishes to work on a variety of projects including national scale coastal and fluvial defence schemes, ports, harbour and bridge design.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and/or support to civil/structural engineering projects within fluvial, tidal and coastal environments, including major Flood and Coastal Risk Management schemes. This role is pivotal to the delivery of a range of engineering and environmental improvement projects, including options appraisal, concept design and detailed scheme design.
The post will involve leading and/or supporting geotechnical design and delivery of a variety of projects and will include guiding and mentoring more junior Geotechnical Engineers and Engineering Geologists. You will also undertake site works and input to bid and tender preparation
The post will involve leading geotechnical design and delivery of a variety of projects, mentoring junior engineers and reporting to the Structures Engineering Technical Director.
It is essential that you have experience working in engineering consultancy. You will have expertise in the investigation and design of earthworks, retaining walls and foundations. You must be able to scope, organise and supervise ground investigations and carry out geotechnical analysis and design to Eurocodes. You must be familiar with the CDM Regulations and their application within a design environment. The role will include the mentoring of junior geotechnical engineers and therefore good communication skills are essential.
Applicants should be a chartered or close to becoming chartered and have a proven track record in geotechnical design project delivery. Substantial proven previous commercial experience is required for this position.

A valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to sites and other offices are essential.
Qualifications and Experience:
An undergraduate degree in engineering geology or geotechnics is essential. An MSc / MEng in a related discipline would be advantageous.
