Due to growing demand for our services across a range of exciting projects we are looking for an experienced Environment & Sustainability Consultants with a background in multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy.

The successful candidate will join our existing team delivering a diverse range of environment and sustainability projects including climate change resilience, net zero carbon, natural capital, nature-based solutions, stakeholder engagement, evidence-based policy and strategy development, and research. We work collaboratively with our clients to achieve their environmental and sustainability and resilience targets, providing value for money, improving the social and environmental legacy of projects and going further to deliver improved inclusivity, community benefit, decarbonisation, resilience and climate adaptation.

Qualifications & experience

Who we are looking for:

The position represents a significant opportunity to develop and expand your career through working with established teams which service delivery to our extensive client base. It is expected that the role will involve a significant degree of cross office working and will be client facing. Therefore, confidence in working with clients in relation to project delivery is essential, as is experience in supporting the preparation of bids and proposals.

Key tasks

  • Leading project teams on sustainability projects and working as part of a wider project team.
  • Mentoring, challenging and supporting junior staff to support their pastoral wellbeing and professional development.
  • Work within the existing team to drive innovation both internally and externally.
  • Leading on contributing to tenders on new and existing workstreams.

Key competencies required for the role:

  • Relevant academic qualifications in geography, environmental science, ecological economics, climate change, sustainability or related subjects such as climate change.
  • Chartered status (IEMA, CIWEM, CIEEM, IES, CMLI or equivalent), or progressing towards Chartership.
  • Robust relevant post-graduate experience and understanding of current environmental legislation, regulations, and policy.
  • A self-starter, who manages their own workload, and potentially that of a wider team.
  • Technical report writing and editing
  • Business development – delivering tenders/bids and fee proposals
  • Experience in any of the following or similar:
    • Climate Change adaptation and resilience
    • Carbon management
    • Natural capital and ecosystem services
    • Nature-based solutions
    • Environmental land management
    • Environmental Impact Assessments
    • Strategic Environmental Assessments
    • Sustainability Appraisals
    • Environmental Modelling
    • Risk Assessment

Location:

The location for the successful candidates is flexible and we have multi-office locations across the UK. Our teams are predominantly based in our office in Leeds and we are seeking to build our capability across other UK offices providing local delivery. Some ad-hoc travel to Leeds should be expected if you are remote from it.

We support agile working which provides for greater flexibility with the way that we work.
