An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Bid Technical Management based in Derby. The Head of Bid Technical Management will be accountable for ensuring that bid teams are supported with the appropriate technically competent resources.

Role:

The successful candidate will lead a team of technical experts and system architects across the portfolio to develop winning tenders, ensuring that customer needs are met in full.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate the engineering quotations and risks evaluation, checking for consistency and competitiveness
  • Lead the bid technical team from a technical point of view and engage with internal stakeholders when required
  • Perform requirements compliance analysis and/or clause-by-clause of technical bid documents
  • Prepare and lead a Technical Design Review up to the approval of the technical scope associated with the bid
  • Analyse the potential gaps between the customer’s specification and standard solutions and products, supporting the Bid Manager and Tender Leader in defining the most suitable strategy

Essential Requirements:

  • HNC level education in an engineering related subject
  • Knowledge of the UK&I railway safety approval process
  • Extensive experience developing winning complex technical bids
  • Cost and planning control experience in engineering scope

Desirable:

  • Audit skills
  • Corporate member of an engineering institute
  • Experience working in a railway system engineering environment
  • Knowledge of signalling and infrastructure solutions and railway operations
