Salary / Rate: £50,000 – £55,000 + Competitive package

Our client is a leading Consultancy who are looking for an experienced NEC ECC Supervisor to join their Flood Coast and Maritime team to supervise the construction of assets as part of the Environment Agencies £5.2Billion programme of work!

The Supervisor will be principally site-based and will work collaboratively with the contractor and client to ensure works are delivered to a high quality and on programme whilst helping to identify and manage project risks.

The ability to travel to project sites and Client offices within the South West region is essential.

About the Role:

  • Act as Supervisor during the construction phase as described under the NEC ECC form of contract.
  • Check works are carried out in compliance with the contract including witness testing of material and workmanship and observing tests carried out by the Contractor.
  • Review and advise the Contractor on their quality, inspection, testing and commissioning plans.
  • Review Contractor RAMS to ensure the application of the hierarchy of risk control.
  • Undertake inspections of the Contractor’s works.
  • Work collaboratively with the Contractor to avoid Defects but where necessary notify Defects and manage the Defect correction process.
  • Mark materials off site, where required, so as to protect the Client’s interests.
  • Ensure a consistently high standard of quality control and supervision is maintained.
  • Monitor and record the Contractor’s progress against the last accepted programme.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Client’s exceptionally high standards with respect to safety, health, the environment and people’s well-being.
  • Maintain detailed records and data, and provide weekly progress reports.
  • Oversee the resolution of technical queries working the designer and Principal Designer.
  • Assist the Environmental and Landscape Clerk of Works.
  • Witness the commissioning of assets.
  • Acceptance of Contractor construction record drawings, and test and inspection records.
  • Support the Client and Contractor in liaising with landowners, the public and project stakeholders.
  • Attend internal and external meetings, both on and off site as required.

About you:

  • Experience in a construction supervisory role.
  • Supervision of site works being carried out under an NEC ECC contract agreement.
  • Development of quality, inspection, testing and commissioning plans.
  • Working knowledge of the construction process especially in relation to reinforced concrete, piling and earthworks. MEICA experience beneficial.
  • Understanding of design drawings and specifications.
  • Understanding of consents and approvals required to deliver works.
  • Maintaining and sharing detailed records and providing weekly reports
  • Inspections of works and testing of materials to ensure compliance with the contract.
  • Review of risk assessments and method statements.
  • Management of contractors, sub-contractors and dealing with technical queries.
  • Project stakeholder engagement.

Required Qualifications & Trainings:

  • Current CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or IOSH Managing Safely in Construction qualification.
  • Attended CIRIA’s ‘Environmental Good Practice on Site’ training or CITB ‘Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme within the last five years.
  • Working towards, or ideally, a Chartered or Incorporated Member of the ICE or similar.
  • Degree in engineering preferable
  • Hold a relevant CSCS card or equivalent.
  • Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 training
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence.
