Project Director & Or Senior Project Manager

We are partnering this internationally renowned main contracting construction group to identify and recruit a Project Director and / or a Senior Project Manager to join their regional team delivering public sector framework contracts within the Southern region. Based from a Thames Valley HQ and with a remit covering the central southern region You will be instrumental in delivering the full project life cycle of projects within the education, justice and commercial sectors. Your role will encompass:

  • To be a respected leader and ambassador, understudying the Area Operations Director
  • To be responsible for the development and maintenance of key customer relationships
  • To leverage higher margin opportunities through negotiation, framework, two stage or other single source procurement routes
  • To take responsibility for the success, profitability, safety, quality, delivery and programme compliance of all construction across allocated key accounts and projects, whilst maintaining relationships with consultants, stakeholders and trade contractors in order to secure further opportunities
  • To visibly demonstrate our value to the customer by identifying and implementing areas of innovation, best practice, and continuous improvement across all allocated key accounts and projects
  • To ensure projects are delivered fully in accordance with the Company Management System and other project requirements

Key Accountabilities:

Winning Work:

  • Lead and support the pre-construction teams in winning work with all allocated key customers and projects

Quality, timely and cost-effective project delivery:

  • Through demonstration of ‘delivery focus’ be responsible for quality, timely and cost-effective project delivery

Effectively resource all projects with competent people Health & Safety:

  • Take full responsibility for Health & Safety across all allocated key accounts and projects

Effective people management:

  • Adhere to the Company policies
  • Manage project construction teams in line with the vision, values and culture

New Opportunities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers and consultants in order to provide further opportunities in all sectors

Innovation and continuous improvement:

  • Develop, implement and maintain a strategy for Continuous Improvement, working with other delivery teams.

Skills & Experience:

  • Successful and profitable delivery of several major value new build and/or refurbishment projects, primarily within the public sector framework environment values in excess of £20M
  • Extensive experience of leading bid teams and winning work
  • Experience of a similar leadership role with demonstrable success
  • Experience in all forms of contract including Design and Build
  • Relationships with customers/consultants and suppliers which will raise the profile and lead to new opportunities and work wins
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal and people management skills are essential
  • Strong customer relationship skills
  • Ability to multi task
  • Ability to understand the wider picture whilst devoting attention to detail
  • Attitude: characterised by enthusiasm, commitment to personal and divisional success
  • Proactive, diligent, able and willing to think ahead

  • Proven skill in providing clarity of direction and focus for a project team including recruitment (where necessary) and development of staff

In return for your skills and experience you will be joining a highly successful and busy contracting business. You will be intrinsic to winning, leading and delivering projects in and around the central southern region. You will work closely with the Regional Operations Director, understudying them on key operational functions within the region and additionally you will benefit from an industry defining remuneration package which compliments the seniority of the role.
