Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Leeds
Salary: £50,000 (Dependent on experience)
Working Hours: 37 Hours per week (No weekends)
About the Role:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a leading consultancy in Leeds. This permanent position will see you design and manage Mechanical services for a wide variety of construction projects. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of mechanical services, including producing detailed designs, budget estimates, specifications, and contract administration for mechanical-led projects. You will also be involved in promoting sustainability through renewable technologies and driving high-quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Management: Oversee the design and management of mechanical services for various building projects, including producing budget estimates, service specifications, drawings, and tender documentation.
- Project Delivery: Ensure mechanical projects are completed in accordance with the client’s brief and professional standards.
- Renewable Technologies: Promote and integrate renewable energy technologies into designs where possible.
- Multidisciplinary Approach: Champion a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to project delivery, ensuring seamless coordination across teams.
- Resource Coordination: Schedule and coordinate resources, liaising with colleagues, commissioners, and clients as necessary.
- Financial Management: Monitor project profitability, ensuring projects are delivered within the agreed budget and professional fees. Take corrective action when required.
- Surveys & Inspections: Carry out condition surveys or dilapidation assessments, contributing to asset management systems or stock condition reports.
- Quality & Efficiency: Promote the efficient, competitive, and high-quality delivery of mechanical services installations and energy management services.
Key Requirements:
- Chartered Status: Member of the Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers (CIBSE) or working towards Chartered status.
- Experience: Previous management/supervisory experience and a proven track record in successfully delivering mechanical projects, including alterations and refurbishments.
- Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Membership: Membership of the Engineering Council preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of standard building services contracts.
- Site Experience: Hold or be willing to attain a current site card.
- Driving License: Willingness to travel frequently to project sites.
