If so, we have a unique opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our clients’ In-House Engineering and Sustainable Delivery design team!

The role

Our client is one of the top performing water and sewerage companies in the UK, serving 2.8 million customers across the south west of England. Their Engineering and Sustainable Delivery department complete a programme of water treatment, wastewater and network projects across the South West. They have a solid pipeline of design and construction work that will take them through to the end of 2025 and beyond.

The role requires being able to undertake structural design and calculations together with provision of specific investigations. You will be able to complete permanent and temporary works designs.

The team provide technical input and approval for all structural works on the capital programme. This includes structural design and detailing including concrete, steel, masonry and timber for new permanent works and modifications to existing structures.

What do I need?

If you join our client as a Structural Engineer, you will be expected to work within their project teams, to help drive the function’s development and to provide support to the team and other internal stakeholders.

Irrespective of your level, you will regularly act as a focal point of contact with the construction and utility teams, so you must be confident and effective working in a dynamic, fast-moving environment and be an excellent communicator with all levels of staff from Director to site operative.

Additional requirements include;

  • Ideally you will be a Chartered member of an appropriate professional institute, e.g. MICE or MIStructE or actively working towards this
  • It is essential to have experience in quantitative and qualitative assessment of existing structures, including design of repair solutions
  • both site and office-based experience in the construction sector
  • knowledge of temporary works design
  • good working knowledge of a range of structural software packages (i.e. AutoCAD, Revit, Robot etc)
  • managing your own workload and utilising consultant support where necessary.

You will be based in our clients’ award-winning offices in Bath but will also be required to regularly attend sites to provide reactive support around the region, so a driving licence is essential.

You must be able to prove your eligibility to work in the UK and provide evidence of qualifications gained.
