Job Title: Engineering Technical Lead – Network Modelling
Salary: £80,000-£90,000+ dependent on experience
Location: South Coast, UK
Type: Permanent, Hybrid – 1-2 days per week in the office
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Technical Lead to provide technical leadership across clean water and wastewater network modelling.
You will lead network modelling strategy and standards, oversee modelling quality across internal and supply chain teams, develop technical capability and support innovation across modelling and engineering processes.
The role combines technical leadership, people management, project delivery, stakeholder engagement and digital transformation, including opportunities around automation and AI.
About the Client
Our client is a major UK water organisation delivering essential water and wastewater services. The Engineering function works with internal teams, consultants and delivery partners across network planning, modelling and engineering delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead network modelling strategy, standards and technical capability.
- Oversee model libraries and modelling quality across internal and supply chain teams.
- Line manage around 18 internal modellers and technically manage up to 50 supply chain modellers.
- Coach and mentor technical staff.
- Drive innovation, automation, AI and digital initiatives.
- Manage modelling providers, software licensing and technical relationships.
- Develop business cases and support commercial decisions.
- Engage with senior stakeholders and represent the organisation within the industry.
- Drive continuous improvement in modelling and engineering delivery.
What Our Client is Looking For
- Strong network modelling experience across clean water and/or wastewater.
- Technical leadership and line management experience.
- Experience with InfoWorks ICM and/or InfoWorks WS Pro.
- Strong people, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Project management and delivery experience.
- Experience coaching and mentoring technical teams.
- Strategic, innovative and improvement-focused approach.
- Strong understanding of network modelling within engineering design.
- MEng/BEng/BSc in Engineering, Environmental Science or related numerate subject.
- Chartered Engineer status with an appropriate professional institution.
Desirable: Subject Matter Expert in CW or WW modelling; Fellowship of an appropriate professional institution.
What Our Client Offers
- £80,000-£90,000+ salary.
- Up to 10% bonus.
