Senior Network Design Engineer
Location: Flexible / Hybrid – Ideally based either M4/M5 Corridor or East Midlands areas
Type: Permanent

Our client is a leading provider of rail telecoms and network infrastructure solutions, delivering mission-critical communications systems across major UK rail projects.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Network Design Engineer to lead the design and delivery of secure operational telecoms, data network and cyber security solutions within complex rail environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver secure, resilient LAN/WAN and IP/MPLS networks.
- Produce technical specifications, architecture drawings and design documentation.
- Support design assurance, compliance and formal design reviews.
- Coordinate interfaces with signalling, SCADA, M&E and operational systems.
- Support system integration, testing and commissioning activities.
- Ensure designs meet safety, cyber security and project requirements.
Requirements
- Proven network design experience within rail, transport or other critical infrastructure sectors.
- Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, IP/MPLS, routing, switching and network security.
- Experience producing engineering design documentation.
- Understanding of systems engineering and design assurance processes.
- Cisco CCNA level knowledge or above.
- Excellent stakeholder and communication skills.
Desirable
- Rail infrastructure project experience.
- Knowledge of signalling, SCADA, operational telecoms or cyber security.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards.
