Site Agent – Piling / Ground Engineering / Civils

Location: Suffolk

Role

Responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of specialist civil engineering and ground engineering works, including piling, foundations, earthworks, retaining structures, excavations, drainage and reinforced concrete.

The Site Agent will manage day-to-day site delivery, coordinating directly with the Project Manager, engineers, subcontractors, specialist piling teams and client/alliance representatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily delivery of piling and ground engineering works.
• Manage specialist piling operations, including mobilisation, sequencing and production.
• Oversee earthworks, excavation, temporary works and ground improvement activities.
• Coordinate piling rigs, cranes, excavators, pumps, concrete operations and associated plant.
• Manage labour, plant, materials and specialist subcontractors.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved RAMS, ITPs, drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate setting-out and engineering requirements with Site Engineers.
• Monitor production, progress and programme against planned outputs.
• Carry out daily briefings, coordination meetings and short-term planning.
• Liaise with the Project Manager, Section Engineers, Design Team and client representatives.
• Identify construction constraints and resolve technical/site issues promptly.
• Manage permits, inspections and hold points.
• Ensure quality records, ITPs, pour records, piling records and as-builts are maintained.
• Coordinate concrete deliveries and reinforcement/structural concrete activities where applicable.
• Ensure temporary works are installed and managed in accordance with the approved design.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and productivity.
• Assist with cost control, change management and progress measurement.
• Maintain strong environmental controls, particularly around excavation, spoil, groundwater, concrete and contaminated materials.
• Promote a strong safety culture on a highly regulated, safety-critical infrastructure project.
• Ensure compliance with project-specific assurance and quality requirements.

Qualifications / tickets

• CSCS Black Card
• SMSTS
• First Aid
• Relevant construction/civil engineering qualification desirable
• Temporary Works Coordinator desirable
• Experience working under formal QA/ITP systems
• Strong understanding of RAMS and construction assurance
