A leading engineering and construction consultancy in the UK transmission & distribution sector is looking to appoint an EHV Cable Engineering Manager to support continued growth across its high-voltage infrastructure portfolio.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for delivering complex HV cable design projects, managing multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring high-quality technical output across a strong and growing pipeline of work linked to the UK’s net zero ambitions.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of engineering delivery across multiple HV cable projects, leading teams spanning electrical, civil and CAD disciplines. This role combines technical leadership, project oversight and team development, with regular interaction across internal construction teams and external clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading engineering delivery to programme, budget and quality expectations
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams across HV cable projects
  • Managing change control, risk and project reporting
  • Reviewing and approving technical deliverables

About You

  • Chartered Engineer (or working towards) preferred

Job Role: Assistant Project Manager
Location: Greater Manchester

Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (dependent on experience)

About the Role:

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across a variety of programmes and frameworks. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will work closely with a Project Manager to ensure robust governance, programme control, and commercial oversight across a portfolio of water-sector projects.

You will also act as APM/PM on behalf of the client for a small number of projects delivered through Tier 2 Contractors and Consultants within established framework agreements. This is a client-facing role that requires confidence, clarity, and strong organisational capability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of multidisciplinary water design
  • Deliver projects on time within cost and of sufficient quality that meet client specifications
  • Co-ordinate and manage commercial contract requirements under NEC contracts
  • Update and manage project programme
  • Maintain communication with the client and achieve client satisfaction.
  • Report project position and progress to senior level on a regular basis
  • Effective communication and interfaces with supply chain and internal design teams
  • Prepare tenders for water design projects with input from engineering teams

About You:

  • Two to five years’ experience working in one or more of the following areas:
  • Engineering design in a regulated industry (see list below)
  • Project engineering in a regulated industry (see list below)
  • Project management of engineering design o Project management of construction in a regulated industry (see list below)
  • Design management
  • Degree or HND qualified
  • Keen interest and enthusiasm for project management
