Flood Resilience Analyst

Do you have experience in flood risk management, flood resilience and emergency planning? Are you wanting to make a difference and help communities adapt to the growing flood risk? Do you have project management experience? We have opportunities at varying levels to join our clients’ established and growing flood resilience team, based at any of their five Southern offices.

Our client is in a unique position of being 1 of only 2 consultancies on the Environment Agency’s Property Flood Resilience (PFR) Framework; being sole provider to the training and exercising Lots of the Environment Agency’s Incident Management Training and Exercising Framework; and the only consultancy across all Next Generation Supplier Arrangement (NGSA) procurement lots.

Successful candidates will help our client to grow and shape flood resilience and climate adaptation services across the business, supporting the delivery of Property Flood Resilience (PFR) projects, emergency planning projects (e.g. training and exercising of Category 1 and 2 responders) and wider flood risk management projects. Their work provides vital support to clients and communities in helping them prepare and adapt to become more resilient to climate change.

You will work closely with leading experts in flood resilience and emergency planning, for clients such as Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, local authorities and the private sector.

Qualifications and experience

You should have a geography, science or emergency planning related degree or equivalent.

Applicants should be chartered or be working towards becoming chartered. Our client will support you through their professional mentoring programming to gain chartership if required.

Strong and proven communication skills are a prerequisite for this position. We are looking for hardworking professionals who are empathetic towards communities, businesses and individuals who have suffered the misery of flooding and able to demonstrate a desire to help.

You will have the ability to work on your own and as part of a team, able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with colleagues, clients and members of the public.

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on projects across the UK, so involving some travel and occasional working away from home, and will have the following required and desirable knowledge, skills and experience:

Core skills required include:

  • Experience of Property Flood Resilience (PFR) and / or experience of emergency planning
  • Project management
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Teamwork and mentoring junior staff
  • Report writing and quality assurance.

Desirable skills include:

  • Direct incident management/ duty role experience
  • Contract management and tender preparation
  • Flood warning / forecasting experience
  • GIS (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS)
