Stress Awareness Month: How to reduce stress at work.

In April, Stress Awareness Month we share some tips to avoid stress at work and explain how we support staff to promote positive health and wellbeing.

Stress is the body’s innate reaction to demands or pressures. While certain levels of stress can serve as motivational factors, it’s crucial to acknowledge that our management of stress plays a pivotal role in safeguarding our mental well-being.  

The repercussion of maintaining high levels of stress can negatively impact various aspects of an individual’s life, influencing physical health and emotional stability. Additionally, the impact of stress extends beyond the individual, affecting workplace dynamics, team morale, and productivity.  

By prioritising stress reduction techniques and supporting one another In managing this, we can create a healthier, more supportive workplace culture where individuals can thrive.  

Top tips to reduce stress: 

  1. Maintain a healthy lifestyle.  

A healthy lifestyle can help build resilience to stress and improve overall well-being.  

  1. Exercise regularly.  

Engaging in regular physical activity is a powerful stress reliever. Whether it is going for a walk or participating in group fitness classes. Find activities that you enjoy and make them a regular part of your routine.  

  1. Take regular breaks at work.  

Incorporating short breaks throughout the day to rest and recharge. Whether it is a quick walk around the office, stretching at your desk, or enjoying a cup of tea, taking breaks can help prevent burnout and improve your focus.  

  1. Practice time management.  

This can help reduce procrastination and increase productivity, reducing stress levels in the process.
