Sam Riley Takes on Mount Kilimanjaro Trek for Railway Children
5th August 2025
We’re proud to announce that Sam Riley, Lead For The Digital Infrastructure at Advance TRS & Head of Corporate Relations for Young Rail Professionals, will be taking on the Mount Kilimanjaro Charity Trek for Railway Children in March 2026 — an epic challenge that aims to raise £7,000 to support some of the world’s most vulnerable children.
Following in Our Managing Director’s Footsteps
This inspiring journey continues a proud tradition at Advance TRS. Our Group Managing Director, Andy Ridout, previously completed the Kilimanjaro trek himself for Railway Children — navigating rainforests, alpine deserts, and icefields before reaching the summit at 5,896m. Andy’s experience didn’t end at the peak. He visited Railway Children’s project in Mwanza, Tanzania, witnessing first-hand how donations transform lives.
Now Sam is stepping up to follow that path, carrying forward the legacy with the same purpose and passion.
“This will be the most physically and mentally demanding thing I’ve ever done,” says Sam. “7 days of trekking at high altitude, through rainforest, moorland, and alpine desert to reach 5,896m. I’d be hugely grateful for your support – please consider donating or sharing my campaign to help me reach my goal and make a real difference.”
Why Railway Children?
Railway Children is a powerful international charity working across the UK, India, and East Africa to reach children who are alone, scared, and living on the streets. Many are found around railway stations where they are vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, and trafficking. The charity intervenes early to provide safety, shelter, education, and long-term support to help these children rebuild their lives.
Sam will visit one of these projects in Mwanza during his trip — seeing first-hand the impact every donation makes.
Our Commitment to Giving Back
At Advance TRS, giving back is part of who we are. Supporting causes like Railway Children aligns with our mission to advance others. Our team is deeply committed to charity fundraising, and over the years, we’ve:

We believe business success should always go hand-in-hand with social value. Sam’s Mount Kilimanjaro charity trek is just one more way we’re delivering on that belief.
