Job Title: Rail Estimator

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Overview:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Rail Estimator to join our Complex Infrastructure team, supporting a range of high-profile rail sector projects across Ireland. This is a key role within a growing business sector, focusing on the delivery of high-value, strategically important infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate and comprehensive estimates for major rail infrastructure projects, from feasibility through to tender stage.

  • Undertake quantity measurement to support estimate or Bill of Quantities (BoQ) production.

  • Maintain and contribute to the development of internal rate databases with up-to-date project cost data.

  • Promote best practices in estimating methodology and tools.

  • Collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams, occasionally overseeing junior team members.

  • Manage workload effectively, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery to clients.

  • Engage proactively with client stakeholders and internal teams throughout the project life cycle.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in estimating for rail and rail systems on large, complex projects.

  • Strong understanding of general rail infrastructure cost estimation.

  • Familiarity with GRIP or Pathway project life cycles and their respective cost estimation needs.

  • In-depth knowledge of cost components and measurement methodologies used in the Irish market.

  • Proficient in the use of estimating software and digital tools.

  • Sound understanding of project management principles, planning, risk management, and investment appraisal.

  • Broad knowledge of standard forms of contract, particularly NEC.

  • Flexibility to work in both office and site-based environments as required.

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related construction discipline (preferred).

  • Professional membership or working towards (e.g., RICS, CIOB, A. Cost E.) is desirable.
