Rostering Clerk
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Rostering Clerk to join our Operations team, with a focus on workforce planning for Overhead Line (OHL) staff. This critical role is responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and real-time adjustment of staff rosters, ensuring compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Rostering & Workforce Planning

Develop and maintain rosters for OHL staff in alignment with operational and safety requirements

Ensure sufficient cover for planned works, emergency response, and standby duties

Allocate shifts based on competency, fatigue management, and compliance with working time regulations
Compliance & Records Management

Maintain accurate records of working hours, attendance, and shift patterns using workforce management systems

Ensure all rostering complies with safety standards, internal policies, and union agreements

Track and record absences, annual leave, and training days
Communication & Stakeholder Coordination

Serve as the main point of contact for roster-related queries and updates

Distribute rosters and communicate changes clearly and promptly

Collaborate with depot managers, planners, and supervisors to understand workforce demands
Operational Support

React promptly to urgent or last-minute staffing requirements

Adjust rosters dynamically in response to faults, emergencies, or short-notice works

Proactively identify and escalate risks related to staffing levels or non-compliance
Essential Skills & Experience
-
Demonstrated experience in administrative, rostering, or scheduling roles within operational or safety-critical environments

Strong organisational and prioritisation skills

High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Desirable

Prior experience within the rail, engineering, or utilities sector

Understanding of OHL operations and associated competencies

Familiarity with trade union agreements and rostering practices in unionised environments
