Principal Geotechnical Engineer
Birmingham
37.5 per week
Permanent – £55k-£65k dependant on experience
Overview:
An exciting opportunity for an experienced geotechnical engineer to take a leading role in delivering innovative and high-quality design solutions. You’ll be involved across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and costing through to detailed design and verification of retaining solutions.
Responsibilities:
* Interpret ground investigation data and drawings to produce design reports.
* Use modelling software to validate designs.
* Work with the technical team to develop solutions and CAD details.
* Assess commercial impacts of designs.
* Provide geotechnical advice to teams and clients.
* Liaise with clients and coordinate site testing.
* Carry out site visits to confirm ground models and quality standards.
* Support and train junior engineers.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Degree in Geology or Civil Engineering, plus MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology.
* Chartered or near chartership.
* 5+ years’ experience in geotechnical or civil engineering.
* Skilled in Geo5 and AutoCAD.
* Strong understanding of ground investigation, geotechnical properties, and report writing.
* Knowledge of Eurocode/British Standards for retaining wall design.
* Strong analytical and communication skills.
