Senior & Principal Civil Engineer – Water
Salary:
£50,000 – £70,000 (dependent on experience)
Location:
Multiple UK offices including Newcastle, Leeds, Warrington, Manchester, Redditch, Birmingham, Exeter, Bristol, Cardiff, Reading, London, High Wycombe, Brighton, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.

About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join our client’s growing Water division during a pivotal period of investment and innovation. With major UK water frameworks underway, these roles offer the chance to deliver projects that truly matter – improving water and wastewater networks, stormwater management, and sustainable urban drainage across the country.
As a Senior or Principal Civil Engineer, you’ll work across all stages of project delivery – from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction support – driving innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. You’ll play a key part in mentoring junior engineers, leading multi-disciplinary design teams, and ensuring outstanding project outcomes for communities and the environment alike.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead or contribute to the design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Develop concept, outline, and detailed designs for major civil engineering schemes.
- Collaborate across disciplines to ensure integrated technical solutions.
- Engage with clients, contractors, regulators, and planning authorities.
- Drive innovation, value engineering, and sustainable design approaches.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and apprentices.
- Ensure projects are delivered to high quality, on time, and within budget.
- Support Design & Build collaboration to improve constructability and cost efficiency.
What Our Client is Looking For:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered or actively working towards professional status (ICE, CIWEM, or equivalent).
- Demonstrable experience in UK water and wastewater infrastructure design and delivery.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and inspire teams.
- Proven experience of working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.
- A commitment to sustainability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
