Job Title: Principal Civil Engineer

Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 (dependent on experience)

Location: Maple Lodge (Hybrid Working Available)

Type: Permanent, Hybrid

About the Role:

Our client is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to strengthen their engineering team. You will report directly to the Civil Regional Discipline Lead and provide high-quality engineering design services to minimise risk and maximise value on turnkey and engineering services contracts.

Your role will involve co-ordinating designs, producing design documents and drawings, and ensuring all work adheres to health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce cost-effective design layouts that are practical to construct and commission, considering total project costs.
  • Ensure standard practices are applied where possible to maintain competitiveness.
  • Provide estimates and feedback to the Proposals department.
  • Develop, monitor, and update procedures to improve departmental efficiency.
  • Co-ordinate designs with internal and external disciplines.
  • Maintain accurate records and files for all contracts.
  • Support customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality work.
  • Supervise and develop staff, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Minimise waste and consider environmental impacts in all designs.
  • Ensure all designs fully comply with health and safety requirements.

What Our Client is Looking For:

  • Strong understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
  • Experience managing staff in relevant design disciplines.
  • Chartered or working towards membership of a professional institution.
  • Relevant engineering degree.
  • Ability to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layouts.
  • Broad knowledge across mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
  • Flexible mindset with ability to process complex information.
  • Strong communication skills for technical proposals.
  • Computer literacy and full driving licence.
