Senior Civil Engineer

A new position has just become available to work as a Senior Civil Engineer on rail based projects for a market-leading consultancy. This position can be based across multiple offices: Manchester, York or Leeds.

They have a great portfolio of projects, which include HS2 & Transpennine Route Upgrade.

This is a great opportunity to join a busy consultancy on an initial 6 month basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver civil engineering design packages across multiple rail projects
• Undertake and check detailed designs in accordance with Network Rail standards and applicable codes
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including track, OLE, drainage, structures, and geotechnical engineers
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure designs meet programme, cost, and quality expectations
• Input into feasibility studies, optioneering, and constructability reviews
• Support the preparation of technical reports, specifications, risk assessments, and design deliverables
• Contribute to project planning, resourcing, and commercial awareness where required

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
• Strong prior civil and/or structural design experience within rail infrastructure
• Demonstrable experience delivering designs for:
  • Lineside and ancillary civils
  • Stations, platforms, and/or rail depots
  • Earthworks, drainage, access routes, foundations, and retaining structures
• Working knowledge of Network Rail standards

Salary & Benefits

• £45ph – £50ph
• Outside IR35
• 6 month contract initially
• Manchester, York or Leeds
• Hybrid working
