About the Opportunity
Advance TRS is representing a well-established, privately owned infrastructure and civil engineering contractor with a long-standing reputation for delivering complex projects across the utilities, highways, environmental, and infrastructure sectors.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team and support the successful delivery of major projects across the region.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account.
The successful candidate will provide commercial leadership, ensuring projects are delivered profitably, contractual obligations are met, and commercial risks are effectively managed.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all commercial aspects of projects throughout the project lifecycle.
- Administer NEC contracts and ensure contractual compliance.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans.
- Lead monthly cost reporting and commercial reviews.
- Assess and agree subcontractor applications and accounts.
- Prepare and submit client valuations and applications for payment.
- Manage variations, compensation events, and change control processes.
- Produce accurate Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.
- Support procurement and subcontract package management.
- Prepare and negotiate final accounts.
- Mentor and support junior members of the commercial team.
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to maximise project performance and profitability.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure, utilities, civil engineering, highways, rail, energy, or construction sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
- Experience managing projects through the full commercial lifecycle.
- Excellent commercial reporting and forecasting capabilities.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
- Membership of RICS, ICES, CIOB, or working towards chartered status.
- Experience working on major infrastructure or utility frameworks.
- Experience leading commercial teams and mentoring junior surveyors.
- Knowledge of public sector and framework contracts.
