Job Role: Senior Project Engineer
Location: North/East London
Salary / Rate: Up to £70,000 + benefits
About the Role:
Our client is looking to strengthen their delivery team with a Senior Project Engineer within the Thames Water London Non-Infrastructure Framework, primarily supporting projects across North and East London.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design, construction, commissioning, and handover of projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, within budget, and to the required specification while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and update construction programmes, ensuring key milestones are achieved
* Arrange, chair, and participate in collaborative planning sessions with key stakeholders
* Prepare and issue invitations to tender, evaluate responses, and provide recommendations for award
* Prepare and circulate requisitions to buyers
* Coordinate technical activities between the engineering team and supply chain partners
* Manage the day-to-day activities of the site management team, resolving or escalating issues where required
* Review consolidated invoices, identifying errors and omissions prior to payment approval
* Drive innovation and continuous improvement by challenging existing methods and identifying opportunities to improve safety and commercial performance
* Maintain and coordinate the project risk register, providing regular updates and supporting Project Managers with early warnings and risk mitigation
* Attend Health & Safety, progress, coordination, and employee forum meetings as required
* Work closely with Project Managers, Health & Safety, Design, and Construction teams to report and investigate near misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions
* Prepare pre-start packs and ensure project documentation is uploaded to relevant systems
* Work alongside the Project Quantity Surveyor to develop cost plans, monitor project costs, identify variances, and assist with mitigation plans
* Lead design liaison meetings to ensure effective communication across project teams
* Ensure all Health & Safety procedures are followed and all activities are carried out in accordance with relevant legislation and company policies
About You:
* Previous project management experience within an engineering or construction environment
* Experience delivering projects under NEC3 contracts
* Degree or equivalent qualification in a construction-related discipline
* Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project teams
* Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation, including CDM 2015
* Experience delivering engineering projects from inception through to completion
* Delivery-focused with experience managing programmes and achieving project milestones
* Mechanical engineering background
* Experience managing subcontractors
* Chemical dosing experience
