Salary: Up to £75,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading international engineering consultancy delivering major rail and infrastructure projects across the UK.
Working on the Development and Design Partnership Framework (DDPF), you’ll support the delivery of the Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) programme, providing commercial leadership across a portfolio of nationally significant infrastructure schemes.
This role is ideal for a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor looking to progress into a Lead QS/Commercial Manager position while working within a highly respected consultancy known for delivering complex transport and infrastructure projects.
Senior Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for:
- Leading commercial delivery across framework commissions.
- Managing project budgets, cost reporting and financial forecasting.
- Preparing valuations, cost plans and final accounts.
- Administering NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including Early Warnings, Compensation Events and Change Control.
- Supporting procurement, subcontract management and contract negotiations.
- Identifying and mitigating commercial risks while maximising project value.
- Producing earned value reports, commercial dashboards and KPI reporting.
- Working collaboratively with project managers, engineers, planners and clients.
- Supporting junior Quantity Surveyors through mentoring and development.
Senior Quantity Surveyor Requirements
To be considered, you’ll ideally have:
- Chartered status (MRICS or equivalent), or 15+ years’ Quantity Surveying experience.
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Previous experience delivering rail, transport or major infrastructure projects.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts (Options A, C or E desirable).
- Experience in cost management, commercial reporting and contract administration.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work from the York office three days per week.
