My client, a well established highways and civils contractor, are seeking a Senior QS to look after 3 frameworks in North / East London.

Company: Tier 1 main contractor working with their £300m highways division. They cover highways maintenance, street lighting, flood alleviation and marine, and other smaller civils works. Role: Senior QS managing an AQS and reporting into a Commercial Manager

Project: Working across 3 frameworks in North and East London. The works includes, Upgrade, Replace, Maintain, Repair etc for the local councils, boroughs.

Salary: £55k – £70k + package dependent on experience

Location: Based in North London with site visits to East London

General Foreman

My client is looking for General Foreman’s to join their team to work on projects across the Thames Valley Patch, in particular the following sites;

Cirencester, Cricklade, Chipping Norton, Bourton on water, Kingston Bagpuize.

The role is to proactively lead and effectively coordinate construction phase activities within the Project Teams promoting health, safety, environmental and construction best practice across the framework programme to demonstrating exemplary standards and leadership throughout the sector.

They work closely with their customers and supply chain partners to receive outstanding results They have committed to working collaboratively with Thames Water, valued strategic suppliers and other stakeholders to embed MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) to realise leading safety, health and wellbeing, quality, customer service, sustainability and efficiency performance improvements.

What you will be doing:

• Appraise the risk to the scheme in conjunction with the Project Manager and install and monitor adequate site security.
• In conjunction with the site management team, manage the project procurement process for suppliers and contractors in line with the Company processes and commercial best practice.
• Ensure the site fulfils all obligations for external compliance audit.
• Ensure Permit to Work systems, Inductions and Briefings are correctly carried out.
• Plan and co-ordinate the operational delivery of the project as required.
• Oversee the day-to-day construction processes and ensure co-ordination within the site team, client, and contractors.
• Attend meetings with and maintain necessary regular contact with clients and stakeholders.

What you need:

• Experience of working for a major sized Civil Engineering Contractor working on water or major highways schemes.
• Sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations as well as a comprehensive understanding and experience of a wide range of construction techniques and best practices.
• Experience of managing and developing staff.
• Adopt a proactive approach to the environment and customer care of all the stakeholders involved in a project – promotion of positive image of the Company name to protect and promote the brand name.
• Dependent on the project or section of work being supervised: specialist knowledge may at times be desirable or essential
• CITB Level 3 Safety Course SMSTS (5 day).
• Appropriate CSCS card.
• First Aid at Work (4 day).
• Experienced in IT Packages e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

The Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Drainage Engineer to create forward-thinking, environmentally friendly, and smart plans for designated projects.

As a rapidly expanding consultancy, they are in search of a skilled Engineer to join their team and advance their professional journey. The chosen candidate will have the chance to work with leading Tier One Contractor, contributing to structural engineering solutions and participating in business development endeavours.

Responsibilities of The Role

• Collaborate with the team to offer specialised knowledge in drainage, highways designs, and other relevant projects as needed.

• Provide technical expertise to both colleagues and clients, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions.

• Conduct Design Risk Assessments and actively participate in project hazard workshop reviews to ensure safety and efficiency.

• Work closely with design coordination/management functions and engage with other design disciplines for seamless project integration.

• Ensure efficient and integrated structural solutions by liaising with clients and the design team. Maintain proactive communication with all team members, attend meetings, and keep accurate notes of discussions.

• Share expertise with the team to foster development. Continuously update skills and technical knowledge through CPD (Continuing Professional Development) activities. Meet all professional CPD requirements annually.

• Contribute to civil engineering tendering processes by evaluating clients ITTs thoroughly, formulate civil design strategies, identify project risks and opportunities, engage with sub-consultants and suppliers, and coordinate tender deliverables.

Requirements of The Role

• Possess a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• Chartered status or actively pursuing it.
• Demonstrated extensive experience of at least 5 years, focusing on projects where drainage/highways were integral to the design.
• Competent in using relevant software packages.
• Previous work experience in the civil design domain, preferably within a consultancy environment.
• Track record of success in work winning, including identifying and mitigating risks.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Clean Driving Licence.
• Possess an adaptable and flexible working style, fostering collaborative relationships.
• Ability to confidently present ideas, opinions, and solutions.
• Capable of representing the company professionally during site visits/surveys, even during unsociable hours.
• Experience in infrastructure projects, with a preference for rail or power sectors.
