A key element to the role will be the understanding and managing of the design process from inception to construction of new flood alleviation, surface water management /flood alleviation projects, drainage strategies and producing and checking Flood Risk Assessments.

Our clients’ Water Team specialises in providing advice to both public and private sectors clients on planning and design issues relating to Flood Risk, as well as the detailed design of Flood Protection, SuDS and Sewerage on Residential, Retail, Industrial, Commercial Developments and Public schemes throughout the UK.

Responsibilities

You will have a minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience and your principal role will be the day to day project management of a small team of Flood Modeller-TUFLOW and InfoWorks ICM modellers and conceptual design of flood protection measures and drainage strategies, leading to planning applications or construction drawings. You can expect to be active on a number of projects / client accounts at any given time. You will be expected to mentor and develop a team of modellers and engineers together with client facing. You will assist and separately produce fee proposals and verify work. Experience in the design of foul and surface water systems using the WinDES or FLOW software package would be an advantage.

Qualifications

You will hold a degree in Civil Engineering or appropriate science or equivalent commercial experience and responsibility. You will either have or be approaching CEng (MICE, or CIWEM) status or equivalent commercial experience and responsibility and have substantial post graduate experience in:

  • Flood mitigation design from concept through to detailed design including the options assessment for private and public sector clients
  • Managing river modelling and hydrological analysis to support the design
  • Drainage design and Flood Risk Assessments

As a Senior Hydraulic Modeller, you will be providing technical modelling expertise in wastewater to support design, construction and operation of assets. Your role will be developing, embedding and driving efficiency, consistency, technical expertise, collaborative and innovative ways of working to provide exceptional service to our customers and environmental enhancement.

This role has a focus on leading a highly skilled team, technical problem solving, data analysis, and decision making. If you have previous experience of InfoWorks ICM, technical training and supporting junior team members then our client would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities will include building, calibrating, validating, maintaining, and using models for root cause analysis, developing understanding & challenging solutions, providing insight to system operation and performance, communicating risk to support business units and stakeholders needs.

About You

This role will make excellent use of your understanding of InfoWorks ICM and experience with model build, verification, historical verification and solution development.
