The Technical Services Manager is a support role to the construction team. Working with the Project Director & Project Manager you will be responsible for the successful procurement (advice), design, co-ordination and commissioning of the services packages through the pre-construction, construction and hand over phases ensuring these are delivered to agreed budget, time and required quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ professional experience working as a Wastewater Modeller in the UK water sector. Our client is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their technical team. The selected candidate will hold a senior position within the team and will be responsible for the design of geotechnical packages throughout the project lifecycle, from initial feasibility studies and cost evaluations to the finalisation and verification of formal design packages for retaining solutions.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer position involves interpreting ground investigation and client drawings to produce comprehensive design reports. The candidate will be required to use modelling software to validate proposed solutions and work collaboratively with other members of the technical team to determine initial solutions and create the necessary CAD details.

The successful candidate must assess the commercial impact of chosen designs and provide geotechnical advice to both the team and clients. • You will be a self-motivated, have a keen interest in water engineering, an understanding of water or wastewater infrastructure design and a desire to learn within the context of a strong, highly skilled team.

You will be joining a small but dynamic team working on a variety of schemes in the water sector. Being a smaller consultancy my client is able to offer a broad range of experience in addition to technical design which may include project management, bidding & tendering, site visits, commercial management and client / stakeholder relationship management.

Our clients’ company partners are based in the office and are very experienced engineers who would be able to provide expert support, training and guidance.

Our client is looking for candidates with well-rounded experience. Covering everything from initial concept design, through outline and detailed design, then construction support on-site. Experience of working in a D&B environment would be beneficial.

Your role will liaise directly with clients and involve providing technical expertise in the delivery of hydraulic and hydrological modelling projects, including 1D and 2D models for rivers and surface water. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior colleagues, support work winning activity, and develop strong client relationships to support the continued development of the Environment team.

To meet the demands and needs of our customers you will support innovative work with colleagues and explore new areas of work including sustainability, climate solutions and aquaculture. You will work collaboratively with colleagues from across the organisation to promote the business through presentations at conferences and cross-sell our services to attract new clients.

The core project teams are based in London and Leeds, with other UK offices including Aberdeen, however our client is open to flexible working, including the option of remote working. There is a requirement to travel to customer sites and to attend meetings, whether on customer sites and/or in regional offices.

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold a relevant bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography or a related discipline, and ideally a Masters or PhD in a relevant subject.

• Demonstrable experience in the application of flood risk management legislation, planning policy, and industry guidance. This may include:

• Experience in FEH hydrological assessments and/or hydraulic modelling (ESTRY-TUFLOW, Flood Modeller, or similar)

• Business Case / project appraisal experience related to flood management

• Project management of flooding or water related projects

• Experience in providing technical advice and mentorship to junior team members

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present professionally both verbally and in writing, conveying technical subject matter to a range of audiences.

• You will be self-motivated with a proactive approach to continual professional development.

• You will be a Chartered member of a professional body or have a desire to work towards chartered status.

Job Overview

As a Senior Hydraulic Modeller, you will be providing technical modelling expertise in wastewater to support design, construction and operation of assets. Your role will be developing, embedding and driving efficiency, consistency, technical expertise, collaborative and innovative ways of working to provide exceptional service to our customers and environmental enhancement.

This role has a focus on leading a highly skilled team, technical problem solving, data analysis, and decision making. If you have previous experience of InfoWorks ICM, technical training and supporting junior team members then our client would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities will include building, calibrating, validating, maintaining, and using models for root cause analysis, developing understanding & challenging solutions, providing insight to system operation and performance, communicating risk to support business units and stakeholders needs.

About You

This role will make excellent use of your understanding of InfoWorks ICM and experience with model build, verification, historical verification and solution development. Ideally you will be degree educated and may have some experience in the use of Infoworks ICM, Risk Master, InfoAsset Manager, MapInfo, ArcGIS and FME or other data integration platforms.

Our client is keen to hear from applicants who are able to demonstrate experience in writing specifications, real time catchment modelling, model build, calibration, historical verifications and solution development and have an excellent working knowledge of hydraulics and water quality standards.

Package

This role will be full time Monday to Friday (36 hours per week) with a hybrid approach to working. Our client will consider applicants who are able to working independently, subject to an occasional visit to their office in Brighton (max. 1 day per month)
