Our clients Sustainable Water Management Team are seeking Senior or Principal Hydraulic Modellers to help deliver their national programme of work. Focussing on the delivery of flood risk management projects, you will have the opportunity to be a major contributor leading external and internal clients. You will be responsible for driving the direction of projects working with other disciplines within the water team and overseeing and mentoring the work of a team of hydraulic modellers.

Our clients team has a broad portfolio of work including providing input to planning submissions for the water environment for major infrastructure projects and FCERM studies working across the energy, transport, government and water sectors.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate in the leadership of their national technical delivery groups providing direction for the national hydraulic modelling team and supporting innovation in the delivery in these studies.

As a lead member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering and overseeing projects for local authorities, private clients and major infrastructure clients providing a range of flood risk management related services.

Key responsibilities:

• Identifying prospective opportunities and leading on the preparation of proposals.
• Providing project, commercial and financial management for projects.
• Undertaking client and stakeholder liaison.
• Technical leadership and coordination on multidisciplinary projects led by the water team.
• Undertaking Quality Assurance technical reviews.
• Preparation of reports or the supervision of others.
• Mentoring and technical development of others.
• Preparing and delivery of both project and technical presentations.

Job Title: Flood Risk and Drainage Senior

Location: London, Bristol, or Warrington

Key Skills

* Ability to recognise and communicate flooding and drainage related constraints and opportunities

at development sites.

* Experience producing and reviewing a wide range of FRAs and drainage strategies.

* Good knowledge and experience of MicroDrainage.

* Good knowledge of the planning system, in particular flood related policy and guidance such as the

NPPF and SUDS Manual.

* Awareness of financial control and project management.

Our client is one of the UK’s leading consultancies in water and environmental engineering. They specialise in water engineering, flood risk & drainage engineering and hydraulic modelling.

Due to continued growth in workload they are now seeking a Hydraulic Modeller to join their wastewater team in North Wales.

Our client is able to offer hybrid working but it is expected that the successful candidate will be able to attend the office when required. Therefore, it is likely that the successful candidate will be located within a commutable distance of our clients’ North Wales office (North Wales coast, Wrexham, Chester, Wirral etc)

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of wastewater modelling software such as InfoWorks ICM, including model build and verification, survey supervision and optioneering/design of solutions.

You will work as part of a team being involved in a variety of projects including model build and verification, using existing or new models to understand system performance and using the model to help the design of system improvements and enhancements to the Wastewater Network ensuring technical excellence and best practice to specification.

Requirements

Minimum of an Honours Civil Engineering Degree (NFQ Level 8), or similar relevant Degree.

Working knowledge of using GIS tools (MapInfo, ArcGIS)

Demonstrated ability within the water industry with a focus on wastewater network solutions including outline design of wastewater schemes; sewage pumping systems and treatment facilities.

Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Job Description:

Our client is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their technical team. The selected candidate will hold a senior position within the team and will be responsible for the design of geotechnical packages throughout the project lifecycle, from initial feasibility studies and cost evaluations to the finalisation and verification of formal design packages for retaining solutions.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer position involves interpreting ground investigation and client drawings to produce comprehensive design reports. The candidate will be required to use modelling software to validate proposed solutions and work collaboratively with other members of the technical team to determine initial solutions and create the necessary CAD details.

The successful candidate must assess the commercial impact of chosen designs and provide geotechnical advice to both the team and clients. This role also involves liaising with clients to investigate solutions and coordinating geotechnical testing requirements on site. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer may also visit the site to confirm ground models and ensure quality assurance.

In addition, the role includes providing in-house training to the team. The ideal candidate will have exceptional technical and analytical skills, demonstrate professionalism and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Key Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate for the Senior Geotechnical Engineer position will have a degree in Geology or Civil Engineering (BEng, BSc, or equivalent) and an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology. The candidate must be chartered with a relevant professional body or nearing chartership status.

The candidate should have more than five years of relevant experience in civil engineering or geotechnical engineering. The candidate should possess proficiency in computer software such as Geo5 and AutoCAD.

The successful candidate must have practical knowledge of geotechnical properties, ground investigation, and geotechnical report writing. They must have a sound understanding of Eurocode/British standard compliant design, particularly regarding retaining walls.

• The role will involve supervising a small team of engineers and technicians and ensuring that work is delivered on time and to the agreed fee.
• Key responsibilities of this position include preparing request for proposal documents, including specifications, geotechnical/geophysical tests, and drawing layouts for investigations as necessary for the projects based on location and type of structure.
• Other duties include performing Soil-Structure interaction design of piled raft foundations, preparing recommendations for foundation design, building, and maintaining relationships with clients and other professionals involved in the projects, and being mindful of cost implications when making recommendations.
