Job Summary

To produce accurate and detailed 3D models and 2D drawings.

A BIM modeller works under direction from an Engineer or BIM Coordinator/BIM Manager following the data flow as specified in the BIM methodology. They produce work in accordance with the work flow/ BIM execution plan (BEP), support in the federation model process, and resolve coordination issues identified.

Core Responsibilities

  • Utilise Bentley ProjectWise with OpenBuilding Designer, and MicroStation for detailed 3D CAD model creation and documentation, ensuring models are fully coordinated and by using clash avoidance tools which are embedded within the digital twin used on the project.
  • Liaise with discipline BIM leads to ensure optimized clash results using suppression rules based on modelling methods.
  • Support the production of high-quality 3D CAD models and detailed construction drawings for specific elements of railway station projects, ensuring integration with overall project information models.
  • Produce model geometry and information in line with the Component Catalogue and outline information within the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
  • Ensure all models that are submitted, meet the project requirements set out, and ensure systems are in place for clash avoidance, internal model audits and clash detection before model submission.
  • Support and liaise with the BIM Coordinator, BIM Manager and wider project joint venture team in the implementation of deliverables adhering to specified project standards and to facilitate issue resolution.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the project’s ProjectWise Common Data Environment, ensuring accurate and timely information flow and adherence to data management standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance checks of to ensure they meet the project’s accuracy, detail, and the employers information requirements.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Utilising the suite of approved Regional Scotland Design Management documents, manage the design development and delivery of project information, noting the desire to generate complete, compliant, co-ordinated and fully costed drawings and specifications (including CDP subcontractor input) to meet programme requirements.
  • Manage and ensure effective briefing of the Design Team.   • Liaise with all statutory bodies/authorities as required – such as planning, building control including SER requirements.

­ Ensure there is a clear schedule of design deliverables

­ Lead gate reviews activities to ensure that they are timely and appropriate sign off is achieved at each project gate to include appropriate communication to Bid Managers and other Design/Work Winning team members as required,

­ Lead the co-ordination and production of design data, bid deliverables, reports and documentation essential to the project and contractual requirements and report progress against the design deliverables programme

  • Lead the implementation of the project BIM deliverables, including teamwork and collaboration and the management and sharing of data relating to BIM models – all in collaboration with the Regional Digital team.
  • Liaise with our BIM management during the bid and construction stages ensuring the supply chain is fully aware of BIM requirements

PERSONAL QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE

  • This role requires an individual with proven experience in delivering design services within a Site Based and Work Winning environment and successfully implementing design strategies as well as relevant project experience.
  • Leadership skills in a matrix organisation are required to deliver design services in a timely manner with a customer and business sector specific focus. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure. The individual will know ‘what good looks like’ in bid submissions and work winning and have hands on experience of delivering work-winning bids in a timely manner.
  • Understanding and experience of site based activities and the key role that design management plays in effective project delivery
  • Good working knowledge of BIM is required. The individual will have experience within the most current forms of procurement.
  • Relevant Professional membership with an appropriate institute. A valid CSCS card is a requirement.
  • Excellent IT Skills relevant to the Regional Business are desirable. Detailed knowledge of codes of practice and other regulatory material, applicable to the Regional Business.
  • The individual should have a desire to continuously pursue innovation and development, with a focus on the customer and the relevant Business Stream.

We are looking for experienced, Structural Engineers to a engineering team on the Hinkley Point C nuclear new build. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex reinforced concrete and steel structures using advanced digital construction methods. You will collaborate with site engineers, CAD teams, and international design offices to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Modify and detail reinforced concrete and steel designs in line with Eurocodes.
  • Prepare and coordinate 3D BIM and 2D drawings with CAD and design teams.
  • Manage engineering changes, field requests, and non-conformance issues.
  • Liaise with site teams, contractors, and international back-office engineers.
  • Conduct site inspections and technical reviews.

Requirements:

  • Civil, Structural, or Infrastructure Engineering background.
  • 5+ years UK experience, ideally in reinforced concrete and steel design.
  • Experience in nuclear or heavy industry projects preferred.
  • Strong skills in TEKLA, CAD, and BIM workflows.

I am looking for a construction focused civil engineer with a good rail civils background, to deliver civil engineering technical excellence for a rail project in London.

Role

You will have previous experience working in a similar role within programmes from a civils aspect. This role would suit an existing civil engineer within the rail civil environment.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and adapt the project technical instructions for Civil Engineering to enable the project methodology and installation activities to be undertaken in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Ensure that the risk assessment and mitigation plan is adhered to so technical risks are managed effectively.
  • Undertake design reviews to ensure that Design is delivered to programme and the output is compliant with defined scope and applicable standards.
  • Ensure integration of design, installation and commissioning activities and that the end product meets client specification.
  • Support Project team with tendering activities ensuring the quality of estimates, Civil Engineering implementation strategies and methodologies are robust, constructible and cost effective.

Essential requirements:

  • Have five years relevant experience.
  • Worked as a CRE previously for construction

Desirable:

  • Although not essential it would also be advantageous if you have a degree in a relevant discipline such as Civil Engineering.
