About the Role:
Our client is seeking a Regional Commissioning Manager to support delivery across their AMP8 Thames Water programme. Reporting to the Senior Commissioning Manager, this role will take ownership of commissioning activities across a designated region, ensuring efficient delivery through all stages of the project lifecycle.

You will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and executing commissioning activities, driving safe and effective integration of assets, and ensuring seamless project handover. This is a leadership position with responsibility for both people management and technical delivery.

About you:

  • Degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, or process) or equivalent qualification
  • Proven hands-on commissioning experience, ideally within the water industry
  • Previous experience operating as a Commissioning Manager in a similar environment
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Solid understanding of commissioning processes across the full project lifecycle
  • SAP qualification (desirable)

1. Role Overview

An independent and suitably qualified environmental consultant is required to act as Planning Monitoring Officer (PMO) for the development authorised under the deemed planning permission for the Kintore to Hurlie Overhead Line Project in Aberdeenshire.

The PMO will be responsible for independently monitoring compliance with the terms of the deemed planning permission and all associated planning conditions during the construction and restoration phases of the development.

The PMO appointment and terms shall be approved in writing by the Planning Authority prior to the Commencement of Development.

2. Key Responsibilities

2.1 Compliance Monitoring

The PMO shall monitor and verify compliance with:

  • The terms of the deemed planning permission
  • All conditions attached to the consent
  • Approved environmental management plans
  • Environmental mitigation measures associated with the development
  • Relevant environmental requirements for electricity transmission infrastructure projects

2.2 Site Monitoring

3.1 Monthly Monitoring Reports

  • Compliance with planning conditions
  • Implementation of mitigation measures
  • Any environmental risks or issues identified
  • Corrective actions undertaken or recommended

3.2 Non-Compliance Reporting

Where any incidences of non-compliance with the deemed planning permission or planning conditions are identified, the PMO shall:

  • Notify the Planning Authority at the earliest practical opportunity; and
  • Submit a written report no later than 10 working days following the occurrence of the non-compliance.

The report shall include details of the non-compliance and any remedial measures implemented or proposed.

4. Duration of Appointment

The PMO shall be appointed for the entire duration of the relevant development stages, including:

  • Commencement of Development
  • Construction works
  • Post-construction site restoration and reinstatement works

The appointment shall remain in place until completion of restoration works unless otherwise agreed in writing by the Planning Authority.

Quantity Surveyor – £40,000-55,000 – Hybrid, London

Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of major infrastructure works on the HS2 programme. Working within a leading global construction consultancy environment, you will play a key role in providing pre- and post-contract commercial services across one of the UK’s largest and most complex rail infrastructure projects.

This role offers exposure to high-value civil engineering, rail systems, stations, and enabling works packages, operating within NEC forms of contract in a collaborative, multi-stakeholder environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide full pre- and post-contract Quantity Surveying services across allocated HS2 work packages
  • Administer NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including assessment of compensation events, change control, and early warnings
  • Prepare and manage cost plans, estimates, and benchmarking data in line with HS2 governance requirements
  • Support procurement processes including tender documentation, analysis, and contract award recommendations
  • Undertake valuations, cost reporting, forecasting, and cost/value reconciliation
  • Assess contractor applications for payment and ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Contribute to risk management processes, including quantitative risk analysis and contingency management
  • Support dispute avoidance and commercial negotiations where required
  • Liaise with project managers, planners, engineers, and client stakeholders to ensure robust commercial control
  • Ensure compliance with project controls, reporting standards, and audit requirements

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Experience working on major infrastructure or rail projects (HS2 experience desirable)
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts
  • Experience in cost planning, commercial management, and change control
  • Proficient in cost reporting and forecasting within large, complex programmes
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Working towards or holding professional membership (MRICS or equivalent preferred)

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within Tier 1 contractor or consultancy environment on large-scale rail schemes
  • Familiarity with HS2 governance processes and reporting frameworks
  • Experience in civils, rail systems, tunnelling, or major station packages

Assistant Quantity Surveyor – £30,000-45,000 – Hybrid, Birmingham

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of major infrastructure projects.

This role will involve working across highways, heavy and light rail, utilities and wider civil engineering schemes. The successful candidate will assist in managing costs, contracts and commercial performance across projects operating within NEC forms of contract (experience with NEC3/NEC4 and Network Rail contracts is desirable).

Key Responsibilities

Support the preparation of cost estimates, budgets and financial forecasts

Advance TRS are supporting a leading contractor in the Southwest Water region. They are looking for a confident, hands-on Mechanical Site Supervisor (Mechanical AP) to take charge on site.

The Role

Reporting to the M&E Manager / Lead Site Supervisor, you’ll drive and control all mechanical site activities – delivering to spec, on time, and with zero compromise on health & safety or quality.

You’ll be at the heart of operations, ensuring:

  • Safe working environments for all staff, subcontractors & visitors
  • HS&E documentation is current, compliant & fully reviewed
  • Method Statements & Work Instructions are robust and followed
  • Mechanical works are delivered to specification and programme
  • ITPs are completed progressively
  • Accurate progress recording & as-built updates
  • Non-conformances are identified, recorded and resolved efficiently

Experience:

You’re an experienced water sector professional who knows mechanical installations inside out:

  • Strong background in pipework fabrication, welding & erection
  • Able to assess weld quality with confidence
  • Experienced in punching & snagging pipelines to Isometric, GA & P&ID drawings
  • Comfortable reviewing technical documentation and driving standards on site

Qualifications

  • HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or apprenticeship in pipework & welding + experience
  • SSSTS
  • CSCS
  • First Aid
