Building Services Engineer

Job Title: Weekend Building Services Engineer / Resident Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical Bias)

Project: Major Banking Fit-Out / HQ Development
Contract Type: Contract (Outside IR35)
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Minimum 6 Months
Working Days: Weekends Only (Saturday & Sunday)
Hours: 8-hour days
Rate: £300 – £325 per day

Role Overview:

We are urgently seeking a Building Services Engineer or Resident Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical bias) to provide weekend site supervision on a prestigious banking project in Central London. This is a contract role outside IR35, ideal for professionals seeking weekend-only work while contributing to a high-profile fit-out scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

• Site supervision of M&E activities during weekend working hours.
• Monitor and enforce site safety compliance, including contractor activities and adherence to RAMS.
• Liaise with main contractors, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure quality and progress.
• Conduct and document site inspections, identify issues, and escalate where needed.
• Provide written reports summarizing daily activity, health & safety observations, and any risks.
• Ensure smooth coordination between mechanical and electrical systems.
• Report directly to the project lead or client representative.

Candidate Requirements:

• Proven experience in a site-based building services role, ideally on large commercial projects.
• Mechanical or Electrical bias – but must understand both services.
• Strong site safety awareness and supervisory background.
• Computer literate with experience in report writing (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Must be eligible to work in the UK and operate outside IR35.

Contract Details:

• Outside IR35
• Weekend shifts only – 8 hours per day
• £300 – £325 per day depending on experience
• Minimum 6-month contract with possible extension
