Job Title: Environmental Manager
Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 (dependent on experience)
Location: UK Wide – Peterborough, Leeds, Warrington, Newcastle, Edinburgh or Glasgow
Type: Permanent, Full-Time, Hybrid

About the Role:

This is a strategic environmental management role working across a wide range of water and infrastructure-related projects. You’ll be involved in leading environmental input across flood defence, river restoration, sustainable infrastructure, and nature-based solutions, ensuring outstanding environmental outcomes through all stages of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical environmental leadership across a range of multi-disciplinary projects
  • Guide environmental inputs through conception, design, planning, and delivery stages
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to achieve optimum environmental outcomes
  • Lead on business development activities including tendering and client engagement
  • Support planning applications, EIAs, permits, and liaise with regulators and stakeholders
  • Develop and mentor junior team members and support professional development
  • Help embed sustainability into systems and processes (e.g. carbon reduction, circular economy)
  • Ensure robust project management including budget, programme, and H&S compliance

What Our Client is Looking For:

  • A degree (undergraduate or postgraduate) in Environmental Management, Planning, or a related discipline, or significant professional experience
  • Chartered or working toward chartership with a relevant professional body (e.g. IEMA, IEEM, AEnvCoW)
  • Demonstrable experience in environmental management within infrastructure or construction sectors
  • Strong technical leadership and communication skills
  • Commercial awareness and a record of successful project delivery
  • Ability to lead business development and client relationship management
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, planning systems, and permitting

Desirable:

  • Multidisciplinary project leadership experience
  • Experience across environmental consents (e.g. FRAP, waste, ecological)
  • Understanding of coastal or riverine environments
  • Innovation in design, assessment or mitigation techniques
  • Mentorship or line management experience
