The Role

As a Multi-Skilled Craftsperson, you’ll bring your hands-on electrical and mechanical skills to help build, install and maintain HV and LV electrical systems, including cables, switchgear and substations.

You’ll work across both public and private sector projects, using safe working practices and interpreting technical drawings to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete site Health & Safety tasks: daily vehicle checks, risk assessments, equipment calibrations and inductions
  • Keep working areas clean, safe and organised (including plant, vehicles and workshops)
  • Carry out inspections and accurate test reports for substations and equipment (within 7 days)
  • Install, joint and terminate LV & HV cables to high standards within specified timescales
  • Install and maintain switchgear and transformers to company/manufacturer standards
  • Fault-finding and basic remedial works, including producing photographic evidence and condition reports
  • Liaise with customers and colleagues to coordinate access and minimise business disruption

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong practical experience using hand and power tools to build and fix down electrical equipment (essential)
  • Experience with HV/LV electrical components, including HV jointing and fitting (desirable)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in a recognised Craft Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (essential)
  • Competent Person certificates or authorisations for substations/sites (desirable)
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills (essential)
  • Familiarity with using smartphones and email software (desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence with B + E categories (essential/desirable)
  • Additional training/certs: PASMA, IPAF, CITB, ECS, Confined Space (desirable)
  • NRSWA accreditation for highway-adjacent work (desirable)
