About the Role:
Our client is seeking a driven and experienced Principal Engineer specialising in flood risk, river engineering and water management. You will lead the development and delivery of sustainable, nature-based solutions across multidisciplinary projects – from concept through to construction.
You’ll collaborate closely with technical specialists across hydraulic modelling, environmental disciplines, and design, ensuring high-quality outcomes that protect communities and improve natural environments.

About Our Client:

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver flood risk, river engineering and water management schemes
- Design structures including culverts, weirs, outfalls, sluices and river walls in line with relevant standards
- Lead option appraisals to create economic, sustainable engineering solutions
- Produce detailed construction information, drawings and specifications
- Collaborate with CAD Technicians to ensure clear and accurate design output
- Undertake site visits, asset inspections and supervision of construction works
- Support contract preparation, administration and NEC site supervision
- Manage project coordination, client liaison and budget control
- Mentor and support junior engineers
What Our Client is Looking For:
- BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status
- Strong experience in flood risk or civil engineering design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; relevant engineering software beneficial
- Familiarity with CESWI and NEC contracts desirable but not essential
- A proactive team player with strong organisation and communication skills

Eligibility:
- Full right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available unless confirmed otherwise)
- Relevant degree and engineering experience in the UK market
