The Role

As a Planner, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of multiple infrastructure projects. Working closely with operational managers, stakeholders, designers, suppliers, and delivery teams, you will help ensure that projects are planned effectively, risks are managed, and programmes are delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage work packages across various civil engineering disciplines.

  • Develop, produce, and update programmes for multiple live projects.

  • Collaborate with the Head of Planning to publish regular programme updates and ensure commercial compliance with contracts.

  • Support commercial and delivery teams by capturing changes, identifying risks, and evaluating impacts across the project lifecycle.

  • Ensure legislative, customer, and company policies and procedures are implemented within the governance framework.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying and implementing more efficient ways of working.

  • Champion safety, health, wellbeing, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.

  • Participate in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

About You

You’re an experienced planner with a strong technical foundation and a practical understanding of civil engineering project delivery. You enjoy collaborating with diverse teams and thrive in a dynamic environment.

Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant engineering background (e.g., structures, highways, rail, infrastructure).

  • Strong proficiency in planning software, particularly Asta Powerproject and Microsoft Project.

  • Proven ability to plan from first principles with a solid understanding of construction design and NEC contract requirements.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and strong IT literacy.

  • Organised, proactive, relationship-focused, and solutions-oriented.

  • Ideally, previous site experience with a transition into planning, bringing valuable practical insight.

Qualifications:

  • Degree, diploma, or vocational qualification in Construction or Civil Engineering (or equivalent demonstrable experience).

  • Completion of relevant planning courses.

  • CSCS card.

  • Previous experience working with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor on civil engineering infrastructure projects.
