Job Title: Senior Planner
Location: Bristol (Hybrid / Site-based)
Role Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Planner to support the planning and project controls function on complex engineering and infrastructure projects based in Bristol. The role requires a strong background in programme development, progress measurement, and performance reporting, with particular emphasis on Earned Value Management (EVM) and NEC contract environments.
You will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and analysing project schedules, providing clear insight into programme performance, risks, and recovery strategies to support successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain integrated project programmes from tender through to delivery and close-out.

Establish and manage baseline schedules, ensuring alignment with scope, cost, and contract requirements.

Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques to assess progress, performance, and forecast outcomes.

Provide accurate programme updates, look-ahead schedules, and performance reports for project and senior management teams.

Operate within NEC3 / NEC4 contract environments, supporting early warnings, compensation events, and time impact analysis.

Undertake critical path analysis, risk analysis, and schedule optimisation to identify opportunities and mitigate delays.

Work closely with commercial, cost, and delivery teams to ensure effective integration of programme and cost data.

Support change management, delay analysis, and programme recovery planning where required.

Engage with internal and external stakeholders, providing clear, credible planning advice and insight.
Skills & Experience
-
Proven experience as a Senior Planner within engineering, infrastructure, building services, or construction environments.

Strong practical experience of Earned Value Management (EVM) and performance measurement.

Solid working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts, including programme obligations and time-related processes.

Advanced planning and scheduling capability using tools such as Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.

Experience producing clear, concise programme reports for senior stakeholders.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to challenge and influence project teams.
