Position Overview:

  • Reporting to the Project Director and leading the team in the coordination of a number of tasks within the work site and completing planned works to budget, safely and within set timescales.
  • Maintaining a high standard in all areas in accordance with the Client, Suppliers, Contractors, Stakeholders, Partners (internally or externally) Policies & Procedures.

About the role:

The Permitting and Licensing team performs key functions such as discharging statutory responsibilities in relation to managing access to their underground property and licensing. The team is part of the Development Department that includes the Planning and Property Teams.

My client issues around 2100 permits per year, providing permission for investigation and remediation of coal mining legacy including mine entries, mine workings and unworked coal. They also licence underground and surface coal mines in Great Britain and regulate agreements to access underground property for other purposes.

Main purpose of the job

  • To support the Permitting and Licensing Managers in undertaking and managing Permits to developers and consultants to investigate and treat the coal estate.
  • To support the Permitting and Licensing Managers in undertaking and managing applications for statutory licences and other agreements and to administer extant licences and agreements.
  • To develop and manage relationships with clients, partners and stakeholders and provide specialist internal and external advice.

About you:

You will be a technically minded and team-focussed individual. Able to use your own initiative whilst working at pace and maintaining an eye for detail. You will need to be consistent in your methodology, with careful consideration of established policies, procedures and guidance. Having excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong negotiating skills.

You will have:

  • Experience of reading and interpreting data, maps and plans
  • Experience of geotechnical engineering and site-based drilling works
