What does the role involve?

You will provide principal technical specialist advise and direction into all water resource related outputs. These can be regulatory, statutory, and internal plans as well as inter-company and cross-sector. A key output is modelling and advising on the potential impacts of drought and climate change on the future operation of water production assets and building this into changes to regulatory and stakeholder output.

You will play a key role influencing on national and regional policy with the Environment Agency and other regulators and stakeholders.
This role is fundamental in developing leading edge water resource management planning tools and processes to guarantee the sustainable operation and performance of water production assets.

You will specialise in the dynamics of catchment functions, run-off, river flow, the impacts of climate change, yield and resource management. You will also understand the performance of rivers and reservoirs and the overall performance in relation to supply and demand balance both now and in the future, to ensure long-term sustainability of the company.

Some of the key role responsibilities include the following –

* Provide technical expertise on all aspects of hydrology, water resources modelling and climate change

What skills are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have at least a Masters degree in Hydrology, Civil Engineering or similar and must have a minimum of 5 years relevant experience. This experience could include climate change analyses and modelling, water resources analyses and modelling or working in a similar role in a regulated environment.

You will have a proven track record of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets. You will have previous experience in regards strategic thinking, establishing clear strategic direction and implementing plans to deliver.

A confident communicator, you will have strong leadership and influencing skills and be credible in building up excellent stakeholder relationships with external organisations e.g. other Water Companies, regulators and funders. Previous experience of corporate presentations and the production of technical reports is essential.

What does the role involve?

You will lead the development of Your clients’ long-term Water Resources and Drought Planning. Including the risks and opportunities associated with maintaining their long term supply resilience, in the face of challenges such as population growth and climate change, whilst ensuring that they meet their statutory obligations for water resources and drought plans. The approach involves working right across the regulated business, and beyond including with regulators, to develop a long term (25 year plus) Water Resources Management Plan and Drought Plan, and contribute to the related strategies, policies, interventions and investment priorities that are required to deliver the Plan. The Electrical Engineer will deliver the EICA design content of water industry projects as part of our clients multi-disciplined Water Design Team based close to Durham.

Projects will include water and sewage works design. This will include the design delivery at all stages, from feasibility and pioneering through to detailed designs for construction.

The duties will range from surveying and reporting on existing installations, to determining the best solutions for pumping stations, treatment works, mechanical screening, sludge handling systems, pipework, gantry steelwork, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Develop effective concept design solutions that are consistent with the project brief.
  • Undertake a wide range of design work on all aspects of the functions design and maintenance.

What does the role involve?

You will lead the development of our clients’ long-term Water Resources and Drought Planning. Including the risks and opportunities associated with maintaining their long term supply resilience, in the face of challenges such as population growth and climate change, whilst ensuring that they meet statutory obligations for water resources and drought plans. The approach involves working right across the regulated business, and beyond including with regulators, to develop our clients’ long term (25 year plus) Water Resources Management Plan and Drought Plan, and contribute to the related strategies, policies, interventions and investment priorities that are required to deliver the Plan. In addition, you will lead on engagement with the regional water resources planning process, through Water Resources North and support engagement on water resources planning at a national scale (Water Resources National Framework).

You will lead and manage three colleagues who will support the delivery of Water Resources Management Plan and Drought Plan and also provide technical leadership to external consultants that we work closely with.

You will also be responsible for monitoring performance against the Drought Plan, leading on relevant areas of drought plan implementation and advising the company on drought plan processes.

Setting Out Engineer

I am currently working with a leading, family run civil engineering business who operate in the UK and Ireland. They are in need of a permanent setting out engineer to join this brand new project, due to start in Feb 2024. You will be working on a £20m frames project in Central London finishing in the next year, with just under a years worth of work.

You must have previous RC Frame experience / Groundworks with a reputable specialist sub-contractor.

This is a permanent role paying up to £50,000

Hours are 07:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday

You will be based in Central London, walking distance from local train, tube and bus routes

Role and responsibilities –

  • Site setting out
  • Liaison with site manager and site foreman each morning to establish works for the day
  • All QA regarding pre-pour inspections, works inspection records, oversee cube testing and administration, instrument checks, measure of concrete pours, as-builds of works completed
  • Review of drawings and schedules in advance of upcoming works
  • Raise RFI’s where necessary
  • Photographic records to be maintained daily
  • Assist in health and safety management and standards on site
  • Maintaining equipment and manage paperwork
  • Supervising groundworks
  • Earthworks testing
