An opportunity to join a tier one signalling contractor as a lead project engineer. You will be required to be technically responsible for the accurate, complaint, timely and cost- effective delivery of electrical design solutions that are allocated. As the lead power engineer, you must have knowledge of signalling power, Network Rail/ London Underground standards and electrical design, testing and installation within the railway.
Job description
▪ To be technically responsible for the accurate, compliant, timely and cost-effective delivery of electrical design solutions that are allocated.
▪ To provide electrical and power technical support to the business
▪ To act as Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE) for power or Power Project Engineer on small to medium allocated schemes of work
▪ To support the Power Department in undertaking internal and external technical investigations
▪ To act as technical contact and liaison with clients and sub-contractors in order to resolve outstanding technical issues
▪ To manage timely delivery of work package design, implementation, testing and commissioning
▪ To monitor contracts involving electric and power ensuring they are technically compliant with relevant group and company standards
Mandatory:
▪ Knowledge of Network Rail and London Underground
standards and practices
▪ Awareness of Health, Safety & Environmental requirements
▪ Knowledge of Class II systems
▪ Electrical design, testing and installation within the railway
environment
▪ Understanding of appropriate legislation
▪ Working knowledge of PEDT and AutoCAD Electrical
Competencies & Skills
▪ Working knowledge in one or more of design and operation of signalling power distribution, LV, HV up to 50kVac or LUL power systems.
▪ Knowledge of uninterruptable power supply (UPS) system integration and configuration.
▪ Knowledge of Programme logic controllers (PLC) and SCADA alarm systems.
▪ Knowledge of Class II systems
▪ Knowledge of Auto Reconfiguration Power Systems.
▪ Knowledge of protection, coordination and discrimination of electrical systems.
▪ Knowledge of project programming of resources and activities.
▪ Knowledge of railway earthing and bonding practices.
▪ Knowledge of engineering interface with other disciplines, i.e. Telecoms, Civil Engineering, Permanent Way, and Signalling
▪ Understanding of client and company standards
▪ Understanding of appropriate legislation
▪ Understanding of railway construction methods and materials used
▪ Understanding of Electricity at Work and CDM/CSM Regulations
▪ Technical report writing
▪ Detailed design production / checking / approval (Electrical)
▪ Protection, coordination and discrimination of electrical systems
▪ Risk assessment skills
▪ CDM/CSM awareness and understanding
Mandatory:
▪ Degree level education in an Electrical/Electronic Engineering discipline or HND with time served
▪ C&G 2382
▪ Valid Sentinel PTS with AC/DC
▪ Full valid driving licence
▪ Member of IET
