Senior E&P Engineer / E&P Engineer
Salary: £55,000-£65,000 per year
Location: West Midlands (hybrid)
Reporting into the Principal Project Engineer (PE), the Senior E&P Engineer is responsible for supporting the delivery of Electrification & Plant (E&P) projects from design through to installation, testing, commissioning and handback. The role acts as a key technical lead within the project team, ensuring engineering activities are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with client and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Principal Project Engineer in the delivery of E&P and multidisciplinary rail infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate engineering activities across design, construction, installation, testing and commissioning teams.
- Manage technical interfaces between E&P systems and other rail disciplines.
- Review and approve engineering documentation, specifications and technical submissions.
- Lead design reviews and ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations and client requirements.
- Identify, manage and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support subcontractor management and technical assurance activities.
- Act as a key technical point of contact for project teams, suppliers and clients.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, safety management processes and industry standards.
- Support tendering activities by providing technical input, engineering estimates and delivery strategies.
- Mentor and support the development of junior engineers within the project team.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure engineering activities are delivered safely and competently.
Essential Experience
- Experience delivering Electrification & Plant (E&P) engineering projects within the rail sector.
- Strong understanding of E&P systems, design integration and engineering assurance processes.
- Experience managing technical risk, engineering change and multidisciplinary interfaces.
- Ability to lead technical reviews and challenge engineering solutions where required.
- Good understanding of project delivery, programme controls and engineering governance.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience supporting construction, testing and commissioning activities on live rail infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or working towards professional registration.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution (IET or equivalent).
- Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification desirable.
