Our client is a growing civil engineering consultancy and looking to add to their increasingly busy South London team.

Over the past few years, they have expanded a lot and specialise predominantly within the rail design market. This is the perfect opportunity to join a company who are steadily expanding.

This role will lead a new geotechnical team. This will allow somebody to take on a great deal of responsibility and grow with the business. Our client is happy to be flexible on the grade somebody could start in and would welcome applications from Senior and Associate level engineers also.

The company have a flexible/hybrid working policy that allows staff to work in the office 2/3 days.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day requirements for all areas of project delivery; including technical, safety and financial aspects to maintain compliance policy and procedures
• Managing and delivering complete design packages for remedial, enabling, permanent and temporary works (e.g. earthworks, retraining walls, soil nailing and working platforms),
• Secure regular and ongoing projects from key rail clients.
• Managing on time, in full, on budget delivery of projects.
• Mentoring, professional development.
• Undertake where required on site project works within the rail environment, sometimes at night and/or to remote locations, to identify issues and solve problems in a safe and professional manner.
• Meet business critical KPIs including safety and financial matrix
• Maintain engineering technical knowledge of standards, policies, and procedures
• Represent the company at meetings with clients, contractors, design teams etc

Essentials

• Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant equivalent degree
• Chartered or Incorporated status with ICE or equivalent; or on route to sitting professional review
• Extensive experience of Geotechnical design is a must

Experience of applying design software.

• Working knowledge of Eurocodes and associated industry and group standards
• Valid UK driving license

You will lead the development of Your clients’ long-term Water Resources and Drought Planning. What does the role involve?

You will lead the development of our clients’ long-term Water Resources and Drought Planning. Including the risks and opportunities associated with maintaining their long term supply resilience, in the face of challenges such as population growth and climate change, whilst ensuring that they meet statutory obligations for water resources and drought plans. The approach involves working right across the regulated business, and beyond including with regulators, to develop our clients’ long term (25 year plus) Water Resources Management Plan and Drought Plan, and contribute to the related strategies, policies, interventions and investment priorities that are required to deliver the Plan. In addition, you will lead on engagement with the regional water resources planning process, through Water Resources North and support engagement on water resources planning at a national scale (Water Resources National Framework).

Requirements and Experience

• We are seeking a Chartered Civil Engineer who is professionally qualified for the role.
• The ideal candidate should have experience working on medium to large-scale projects related to highways and/or light rail.
• A key requirement for the role is a proven track record of working to DMRB standards, which are industry standards for the design and construction of highways in the UK.
• Additionally, the candidate should have experience producing high-quality technical reports.
• The ideal candidate should have a sound working knowledge of relevant national and international highway standards, contracts, methodologies, and procedures.
• Experience with pavement and road drainage design, as well as proficiency in the use of MX or Open Roads is required.
• Proven ability to build, maintain and develop relationships with other project sectors is essential.
• People management experience, including employee welfare, appraisals, training and development, resourcing, and recruitment, would be beneficial in this role.

• Assist in organising and managing technical staff, including acting as a line manager, supporting staff recruitment, training, continuing professional development (CPD), and implementing best practices and procedures.

The Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Drainage Engineer to create forward-thinking, environmentally friendly, and smart plans for designated projects.

As a rapidly expanding consultancy, they are in search of a skilled Engineer to join their team and advance their professional journey. The chosen candidate will have the chance to work with leading Tier One Contractor, contributing to structural engineering solutions and participating in business development endeavours.

Responsibilities of The Role

• Collaborate with the team to offer specialised knowledge in drainage, highways designs, and other relevant projects as needed.

• Provide technical expertise to both colleagues and clients, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions.

• Conduct Design Risk Assessments and actively participate in project hazard workshop reviews to ensure safety and efficiency.

• Work closely with design coordination/management functions and engage with other design disciplines for seamless project integration.

• Ensure efficient and integrated structural solutions by liaising with clients and the design team. Maintain proactive communication with all team members, attend meetings, and keep accurate notes of discussions.

• Share expertise with the team to foster development. Continuously update skills and technical knowledge through CPD (Continuing Professional Development) activities. Meet all professional CPD requirements annually.

• Contribute to civil engineering tendering processes by evaluating clients ITTs thoroughly, formulate civil design strategies, identify project risks and opportunities, engage with sub-consultants and suppliers, and coordinate tender deliverables.

Requirements of The Role

• Possess a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• Chartered status or actively pursuing it.
• Demonstrated extensive experience of at least 5 years, focusing on projects where drainage/highways were integral to the design.
• Competent in using relevant software packages.
• Previous work experience in the civil design domain, preferably within a consultancy environment.
• Track record of success in work winning, including identifying and mitigating risks.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Clean Driving Licence.
• Possess an adaptable and flexible working style, fostering collaborative relationships.
• Ability to confidently present ideas, opinions, and solutions.
• Capable of representing the company professionally during site visits/surveys, even during unsociable hours.
• Experience in infrastructure projects, with a preference for rail or power sectors.
