I am currently working with a leading civil engineering organisation working across a multi-million pound framework to deliver a number of renewal and enhancement projects in the next 5-10 years. I am currently working closely with a leading civil engineering business, who operate across the UK and Ireland, to recruit for a Project Administrator to join their business, to work on a site based in Northumberland. The project has not yet started and is due to start imminently. This is a 6 month contract up until the end of the project in June / July 2024. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join the team from the start of the project and to see it through to the end.

Advance TRS are collaborating with an engineering consultancy that has an exceptional record of working on highly fascinating projects worldwide. Currently, the company is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK’s top consultancies. The successful candidate will become a part of an established team with a mix of experience levels. The ideal candidate should have excellent technical skills, exceptional communication abilities, strong critical thinking capabilities, exceptional team collaboration skills, proficient leadership qualities, and sound project management skills. Our client is involved in multiple high-profile projects, including HS2 and HPC nuclear power station.

Requirements

BEng/MEng Degree in Civil Engineering.
Preferably, hold or be actively pursuing UK chartership with professional bodies such as ICE, or equivalents.
Extensive background in Geotechnical consultancy, particularly on large and intricate projects.
Significant experience handling major assignments across diverse construction market sectors.
Detailed use of Plaxis is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Complete assignments in the UK and internationally as directed.
Follow best practices and procedures.
Support the development of technical capability in the relevant skill area.
Ensure consistency and excellence in technical work output through standardized procedures and peer review.
Implement Company procedures in service management, delivery, and administration.
Identify opportunities and prioritize efforts to achieve targets.
Maximize fee income and utilisation, monitoring time and budgets against assignment programs.
Adhere to the Company’s Health and Safety Policy in all activities.

Key Experience

Knowledgeable in geotechnical and engineering geological processes.
Familiarity with Eurocodes and other relevant industry standards procedures.
Extensive experience in detailed geotechnical design, covering foundations, excavations, basements, retaining structures, earthworks, slope engineering, ground improvement, seismicity, liquefaction, and monitoring.
Expertise in ground investigation, including design, tender documents, supervision, and interpretation.
Understanding of basic engineering work planning, scheduling, and cost estimating.
Experience in large-scale infrastructure projects (c.£100m+), spanning various construction markets.
Basic contractual knowledge and experience would be advantageous.
Competent in 2D and 3D computer-aided design and engineering tools (CAD)
Proficient in 2D finite element analysis software like PLAXIS
Experience with geotechnical software such as WALLAP, LPile, GPile, DPile, SlopeW, gINT, or equivalent.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and C++.

Job location: field-based 4/5 days a week – sporadic 1 day a week admin at home – postcode areas covered include RG, OX, SN, SO, SL, GU (Ideally looking for someone living local to the Reading area)

Salary: £30k+ (experience dependant)
