Construction Manager:

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Construction Manager to join a family business working on some of the finest properties in the central southern England area. You will be joining a highly conscientious and experienced team to complete extension and new build schemes to enviable residential properties in an affluent area of southern England. You will operationally lead new builds to period refurbishments upwards of £2m in value.

JOB PURPOSE

As Construction Manager you will lead a team of site based management to deliver projects to the highest standard and to contribute to the overall success of the customer experience and of customer satisfaction. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

PLANNING & PROGRAMMING

Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of longer lead in times for materials and resources and ensure that this is reflected in any planning.
  • To produce a project programme using programming software to compile this and as a tool to show progress, record delays and variations.
  • To plan for more numerous, complex tasks in an integrated manner that illustrates how they are interlinked and interdependent.
  • To ensure that all planning and programming is shared with the relevant team members, including subcontractors, and is monitored and reviewed.
  • Where appropriate consult with subcontractors to gather their specialist input into the programme.
  • To contribute proactively to weekly team planning meetings and to maintain excellent levels of communication with the client and their representatives.

MANAGEMENT

  • To manage your team in line with company values.
  • To oversee, advise and manage all activities on site related to the projects under your control.
  • To manage your time effectively so as to balance the increased administrative and managerial aspects of the role together with any ongoing practical demands.

COMMERCIAL AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING

  • To accurately complete all administration supporting financial tracking and be able to deliver this information at formal meetings.

QUALITY CONTROL

  • To ensure that expectations of workmanship are explained clearly to the team including the use of examples of good practice where appropriate.
  • To ensure strategies are used to monitor quality and to maintain high standards including regular site inspections of work in progress.
  • To follow all company processes regarding sign off and completion of works.
  • To deploy effective strategies to address issues regarding work that doesn’t meet expectations including gathering documentation to support this assessment and to ensure standards are met.

Our client is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their technical team. The selected candidate will hold a senior position within the team and will be responsible for the design of geotechnical packages throughout the project lifecycle, from initial feasibility studies and cost evaluations to the finalisation and verification of formal design packages for retaining solutions.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer position involves interpreting ground investigation and client drawings to produce comprehensive design reports. The candidate will be required to use modelling software to validate proposed solutions and work collaboratively with other members of the technical team to determine initial solutions and create the necessary CAD details.

The successful candidate must assess the commercial impact of chosen designs and provide geotechnical advice to both the team and clients. This role also involves liaising with clients to investigate solutions and coordinating geotechnical testing requirements on site. Due to the securing of new projects within the water industry, our clients’ Civil Engineering Hydraulic modelling team are looking to appoint a Hydraulic Modelling Technician to join the team in Leicester. As our client has adopted agile working, you would also benefit from the flexibility of a mix of home and office working.

Some office working will be required, therefore you should live within a commutable distance of Leicester, or be willing to relocate.

The purpose of the role is to provide support to the Hydraulic Modelling Team and produce computer-based models and supporting documentation to be used to solve flooding from sewers and prevent the pollution of watercourses. Key clients include Government of Jersey, Severn Trent Water, Thames Water, Yorkshire Water, along with well-known residential developers.

This position would be suitable for candidates who have recently graduated from a Geography / Water Engineering focused degree, with some prior knowledge and experience of GIS (MapInfo / ArcGIS). The position would suit candidates who have an interest in data management and analysis. Full training would be provided on Infoworks ICM.

Main Responsibilities / Activities:

  • Preparing MapInfo plans – managing and manipulating computer data and producing hydraulic models.
  • Undertaking verification of model using Infoworks ICM software
  • Utilisation of project management and engineering skills – running jobs where appropriate
  • Producing technical reports
  • Liaising with clients as required
  • Supervising and coaching other less experienced team members as appropriate
  • Responsible for ensuring that you understand and comply with all Health & Safety requirements, practices, and procedures

My client is looking to strengthen their Operations team with a Contract Engineer. Based at one of the projects in the area, you will work on clean water projects within the region and will be expected to write Works Information as well as take technical scope and reference for Civil and MEICA packages.

Having secured a place on Thames Water’s AMP7 Framework, the client is excited to be delivering a significant proportion of their £600M programme of clean and wastewater Non-infrastructure works in the London area.

You will report directly to the Project Manager and the responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing technical specification (both form internal engineering team and external Client standards) to ensure they meet the project technical and commercial requirements.
  • Managing the supply chain through the procurement, engineering, implementation, commissioning and handover phase.
  • Ensuring review of supplier schedules against the contract Programme, advising the PM of any changes that will affect completion.

Job Overview

As a Senior Hydraulic Modeller, you will be providing technical modelling expertise in wastewater to support design, construction and operation of assets. Your role will be developing, embedding and driving efficiency, consistency, technical expertise, collaborative and innovative ways of working to provide exceptional service to our customers and environmental enhancement.

This role has a focus on leading a highly skilled team, technical problem solving, data analysis, and decision making. If you have previous experience of InfoWorks ICM, technical training and supporting junior team members then our client would love to hear from you.

Senior Project Manager

London

£50,000-£70,000 (Depending on level of experience and exposure within the water sector)

My client is looking to bring in a Senior Project Manager with experience working in the water sector to join their team to work on the Thames Water framework.

You will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with company strategy by planning and evaluating project activities, within the time required and within the tender estimate without risk to the health and safety of all concerned while ensuring good customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities:

* Promote exceptional safety and delivery quality standards to direct and subcontracted work force.

* Ensuring that the BMS is implemented at all stages throughout the project delivery process, i.e from tender handover to final completion.

* Reviewing at the project level, in conjunction with the Information Manager, the effectiveness of the BMS as a means of achieving quality, safety and environmental objectives.

* Ensuring, in conjunction with the Design Manager, that an adequate Technical, Safety and Environmental review is carried out for each project to ensure successful delivery.

* Ensuring that sufficient trained personnel are available for the project and that they are aware of their individual responsibilities.

* Reviewing and approving the Project Execution Plan (PEP) for each project after their preparation by the Person in Charge of the Works and other essential staff.

* Ensuring that appropriately detailed construction plans and method statements are prepared, in place and approved prior to commencement of activities.

* Ensuring works procedures are produced to assist with control quality where applicable.

* Ensuring at contract completion that all records referred to in the PEP are complete and available.

* Ensuring that all site non-conformities are reported and approximate costs identified.

* Ensure all commercial aspects of the project are managed in a timely and proactive way giving accurate forecast and estimates.

* Understanding and implementing the Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies and Targets.
