What does the role involve?

You will provide principal technical specialist advise and direction into all water resource related outputs. These can be regulatory, statutory, and internal plans as well as inter-company and cross-sector. A key output is modelling and advising on the potential impacts of drought and climate change on the future operation of water production assets and building this into changes to regulatory and stakeholder output.

You will play a key role influencing on national and regional policy with the Environment Agency and other regulators and stakeholders.

This role is fundamental in developing leading edge water resource management planning tools and processes to guarantee the sustainable operation and performance of water production assets.

You will specialise in the dynamics of catchment functions, run-off, river flow, the impacts of climate change, yield and resource management. You will also understand the performance of rivers and reservoirs and the overall performance in relation to supply and demand balance both now and in the future, to ensure long-term sustainability of the company.

Your Role

With appropriate consideration of a candidate’s experience and seniority, responsibilities shall include:

  • Directing, coordinating, and undertaking Flood Risk Assessments (England) in accordance with NPPF and/or Flood Consequence Assessment (Wales) in accordance with TAN15.
  • Providing planning-related advice in relation to flood risk and drainage, for projects in England and Wales.
  • Supporting and delivering technical assessments, utilising in-depth knowledge of hydraulic modelling and hydrological assessments.
  • Developing solutions and assessing options for flood risk mitigation.
  • Supporting, managing, or directing the delivery of high-quality projects to programme and budget requirements.
  • Working closely and effectively with clients, design teams, and stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Preparing fee proposals and tenders, and undertaking business development activities.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior staff.
  • Fostering close working relationships with colleagues and clients, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

We are principally seeking candidates happy to be based in one of our offices in Haywards Heath, Coleshill, Newport, or Exeter. We support agile working, which provides for greater flexibility in the way that we work.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a geography, science, or engineering-related qualification, degree or equivalent. Chartered status (CIWEM or ICE) is important to us and valued by our clients to demonstrate experience of working in the UK development and flood risk sector. Therefore, applicants should ideally be chartered or close to achieving chartership.

Essential Attributes for the Role

Core knowledge, skills, and experience should include the following:

  • Experience of preparing and coordinating FRAs and/or FCAs.
  • Knowledge of interpreting hydraulic model outputs, or using hydraulic modelling software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, and HEC-RAS.
  • Excellent knowledge and awareness of the UK planning process and policy.
  • Effective technical report writing skills and verbal communication skills, to explain complex technical issues to non-specialists.
  • Work winning skills and experience.
  • Quality assurance and review expertise.
  • Project management, including contract and commercial awareness.
  • Familiarity with working in GIS and CAD formats.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word/Excel).

My client is looking to strengthen their operations team with a MEICA Manager for their joint venture framework. Based close to Snodland you will take total responsibility for delivery of MEICA at this site, working alongside the operational & delivery team.

This is a permanent or contract role.

The individual projects are the design and construction of improvements to clean water and dirty water treatment plants, including pumping stations and sea outfalls.

You will report directly to the Senior Project Manager and duties/responsibilities of the role will include.

  • Full life cycle responsibility for MEICA quality and consistency; from project need establishment to commissioning handover.
  • Design phase Responsibility includes
    • Outline design – guiding standards for the Project engineers to provide the early MEICA delivery input into design development/optioneering
    • Detailed Design – establish a consistent approach to design review of supply chain submissions
    • Meet with Heads of Design to review quality, timeliness, and consistency of Design production. Develop relationships with designers and supply chain to help improve delivery
  • Support the Programme managers with resource planning, any MEICA key issues as they arise, an oversight of MEICA construction issues and quality.
  • Working with the Programme Managers, Procurement Manager and Ops Lead to establish framework wide MEICA procurement strategy
  • Management responsibility for Project Engineers & M&E Supervisors framework wide

  • Be fully conversant with MEICA subcontractor contract conditions, and any risks associated with their process or methodology
